Origanum vulgare ‘Hot & Spicy’

This is a spicier form of the traditional herb that is a compact growing shrub suited to any sunny spot in the garden.

Flavours/Food Partners:
A piquant herb that enhances`the flavour of all the traditional European herbs. Goes especially well with garlic, rosemary, sage and Coriander — seed and leaf. Mix with chilles, thyme and paprika a? a rub for lamb, chicken and eggplant. Use sparingly with fish, prawns and mussels.

Health/Cooking/Medicinal:
A warm and peppery flavour with a chilli type bite but not as strong. Use late in the cooking to preserve the flavour. Can be added to fresh green salads and home made salsa.

Planting: A tough weed suppressing ground cover for dry, sunny spots. Pink flowers in summer look good above the soft olive green foliage. Prefers well drained soil needing minimal water.

Position: full sun
