A natural way to prevent new algae growth
Directions:
1. Clean pond if possible
2. Submerge net bag with recommended rate in water and allow bag to float close to water surface
100g pack covers 2m2
4. Place near well oxygenated areas (pumps and wateralls)
5. Replace every 4-6 months
To maintain effectiveness, begin additional treatments one month prior to removing first bag
Not recommended for ponds with less than 1m2 surface area

Note:
Barley becomes active in 2 weeks and effective in 4-5 weeks for water temperatures above 20 degrees. Below 10 degrees barley straw becomes active in 6 weeks and effective within 8-10 weeks.
Add barley straw at the beginning of Spring before main algae growth
This product will not kill algae already present, (existing algae will eventually die), but will prevent new algae growth
In still ponds, place bag in the centre
If straw smells then it is not working due to the application rate being too high. Remove and replace at a lower rate.
At excessive rates of 500gm/m2 de-oygenation of water may occur
If net bag holes are restricted by algae or silt, clear by shaking or washing in pond water

Mares Tail provides shelter for frogs and fish and is good for spawning.

OXYGENATOR: An oxygenating water plant which helps to maintain a clean and healthy pond.

HEIGHT: Long narrow green leaves arranged in whorls up to 60cm long, which float on the waters surface. Cut back leaves if they are getting too long.

POSITION: Grow in full sun to part shade in the shallow waters around the edges of ponds, dams and wet lands 5-20cm deep. Can be fully submerged. Can also be grown in decorative water pot with no hole. In a decorative pot, think of them as a potted plant, growing in water, and then you can grow it on your patio, verandah, balcony etc. However a dish/saucer of water is all you need to sit your pot plant in, as long as you make sure there is always water in the saucer.
