More closely related to the Leek, Giant Russian Garlic has a nutty, sweet flavor that is milder than most garlics. It is also grown for its highly ornamental mauve flowers. This cultivar is selected for its performance in VIC, SA, NSW and cooler areas of QLD.
- Sunny, well-drained position.
- Separate and plant individual cloves pointy end up, fully covering them with no more than 3cm of soil at 15cm apart.
- Do not mulch to avoid the bulb being down to deep.
- Do not feed heavily.
- After 6 weeks growth, apply alight spray of a liquid fertilizer monthly.
- Ensure soil is moist, but not wet.
- Plant between March & May.
