Commonly found in coastal forests and beach regions from far North Queensland to Mackay and is a hardy, dry rainforest specimen also known as Native Gardenia.
Fruits are hard-shelled and 6-7cm in diameter. They contain a pale, soft and sweet segmented fruit with small white seeds. They can be enjoyed raw or used in salads, tarts, cakes and other desserts.
Beautiful star-shaped white fragrant flowers appear in spring, which turn into brown fruit that ripens over winter and turns yellow when ready for picking. Fruiting generally occurs in the third - fourth year.
