Banksia ericifolia
'Orange Glow'
A decorative, low growing shrub reaching 1.5 to 2 metres high and about 1.5 metres wide. Features large, bright orange coloured 'candle' flowers well displayed above the foliage from mid autumn till early spring. Highly attractive to native nectar feeding birds.
'Orange Glow' makes an excellent landscape feature and is also perfect for screening, border planting, general garden beds and large container planting. Can be clipped into a hedge..
'Orange Glow' likes any well drained soils (except alkaline, lime). Grows well in full sun to partly shaded aspects. Mulch around plants for best results. Although hardy to long dry periods, occasional deep watering during dry spells will improve growth and flowering. Avoid frequent watering! Annual, light applications of low phosphorous, slow release fertiliser can promote new growth and flowering. Hardy to moderate frosts.
"Orange Glow" is a selected form of Banksia ericifolia and originates from the North Coast area of N.S.W. It has been selected for its compact, low growing habit, its prolific, large orange flowers and its general hardiness. 'Orange Glow' is part of the 'Baby Banksia' range of dwarf Banksias selected, grown and distributed by Merricks Nursery, Victoria, Australia.
Banksias are in the plant family Proteaceae and are closely related to the South African Proteas. A quality Australian Native Plant.
