Sandpaper fig is named after its sandpaper-like leaves and is said to produce the best tasting Australian fig. Fruits grow to 2cm in diameter, ripening from January to June. Enjoy fresh (after removing the furry skin) or dried, or cooked into cakes, jellies, james or sauces.
Ideally, grow in full sun / part shade with plenty of moisture and year round warmth. If you live in a frost-prone area, consider growing in a pot indoors or under a patio when young. Plant at least 5m from plumbing, pathways and structural foundations and prune to shape.
