Also known as Pink Pokers, Hakea francisiana is a hardy evergreen shrub with an upright growth habit and attractive long, narrow grey-green foliage. During winter and spring, the branches are covered in spectacular bright pink flower spikes that are rich in nectar, making them a favourite of honeyeaters and other native wildlife. Its bold architectural form and colourful floral display make it an outstanding feature in native gardens and larger landscapes.

Plant Care

Plant in a full sun position in well drained soil. Water regularly during establishment, then only during prolonged dry periods. Once established, Hakea francisiana is highly drought tolerant and requires minimal maintenance. Prune lightly after flowering if shaping is required. Feed with a low phosphorus native plant fertiliser during spring to encourage healthy growth and prolific flowering.
