Pachypodium geayi 'Silver Madagascar Palm'
The Madagascar palm is famous for its stunning shape end versatility as a garden plant or indoors. In pots plants will remain compact, in gardens they will grow rapidly into stunning specimens to 2 or 3 metres. Plants will stay solitary but when cut will form branches. Large white frangipani type flowers appear in summer. In very cold climates they may defoliate in winter.
Position - full sun or partial shade, great in gardens or pots. They will also do well indoors in well-lit areas. Avoid severe frost areas as tops will burn.
Watering can be watered well over the warmer months with very little in winter. Plants will survive without water for many months; best to allow media to dry between waterings.
Feeding -25% of recommended dosage monthly in growing period. The less fertiliser, the better the shape of the plant. Fertilisers high in nitrogen can produce larger plants with less colour.
Repotting can be left to overgrow their pots or repotted in the warmer months in almost any well
drained potting mix.
Caution-harmful if eaten. Skin & eye irritant. Handle with care due to sharp spines.
