Botanical Name: Pisum sativum
Probably the most popular variety of climbing pea. It produces well-filled pods with beautiful sweet flavour. A tall variety which needs support, the pods can be picked over a long period. Hardy annual.
We hope you enjoy these pea seeds, just another great example of vegetable seeds from Mr Fothergill’s!
Plant Height: 2m
How To Grow Soil should be well prepared with compost and/or aged manure prior to sowing.
Prepare flat trenches 15cm (6in) wide and 5cm (2in) deep. Pair seeds in a zig-zag fashion along the middle of the trench allowing 7.5cm (3in) between seeds. Fill in with soil and gently firm down.
Best sown into dark/damp soil where further water is not required until seedlings emerge. Where more than one row of peas is required allow 1m (3ft) between rows. Protect from birds with netting or by any other means, particularly during early growth. Train young seedlings up to trellis or support.
Keep well watered and mulch to assist with water retention.
Further fertilising is not required as legumes produce their own nitrogen.
When To Plant Late Autumn through to Spring; earlier in cooler zones.
Harvest 14-16 weeks
