A slow-growing, small, evergreen tree with aromatic, leathery, glossy green leaves. Small star shaped flowers in spring are followed by black berries.
Fresh or dried leaves are used to flavour casseroles, stews and soups. Ideal feature plant for herb gardens and large tubs.
Prefers an open, sunny position in moist, well drained soil. Responds well to pruning and can be trimmed to maintain shape and size.
