RHUBARB DRAGON RED
Goodman Seeds has successfully developed their own strain of red-stemmed rhubarb known as "Red Dragon" through extensive research and trials.
PLANTING: Plant the crown with the top level with the soil surface. Beds must be well prepared with plenty of organic matter and phosphorus rich fertiliser. Use a complete fertiliser at planting.
GROWING: Once established apply liquid fertiliser with plenty of nitrogen every four to five weeks from early Spring to Autumn. During Winter loosen the soil around the plants and fork in animal manure and a complete mixed fertiliser.
HARVESTING: Start harvesting when the stems have some colour. Use only the stems as the leaves may be toxic. Only harvest a few stalks in the first year, always starting from the outside.
Warning-the green leaves are poisonous and should never be eaten or fed to animals
