Planting Instructions:
Plant the crown with the top level with the soil surface. Prepare the soil well with plenty of organic matter and a phosphorus rich fertiliser. Apply a complete fertiliser at planting time and water thoroughly.
Growing Instructions:
Once established, apply a liquid fertiliser high in nitrogen every four to five weeks from early spring through to autumn. During winter, loosen the soil around the plant and incorporate animal manure together with a complete mixed fertiliser to encourage vigorous growth.
Harvesting:
Begin harvesting when the stems develop good colour. Only use the stalks as the leaves are toxic and should not be eaten. During the first year, harvest only a few outer stems to allow the plant to establish a strong root system. Regular harvesting from mature plants will encourage continued production.
Warning:
Rhubarb leaves are poisonous and should never be eaten or fed to animals.
