Mandevilla Aloha White

The feeling of the tropics!

Bring the tropics into your garden with this tough performer that's so versatile. Mandevilla Aloha White will climb onto frames, on wire fencing and pergolas. You could even try espaliering against a wall.

Aloha White produces dazzling, bright white flowers with a glowing yellow throat which contrast beautifully against glossy green foliage. Flowering generally awaits the arrival of warmer weather, usually around mid spring, and blooms continue to appear consistently until the latter months of autumn.

Although tropical by nature, Mandevilla Aloha White is not a demanding plant and will tolerate periods without watering. It's also easy to maintain, only needing a little shaping from time to time and a feed a couple of times a year.

Aloha White is not an overly aggressive climber and takes on a shrub-like appearance if unable to climb onto surrounding supports. It owes much of its compact habit to the Dipladenia influence in its breeding. Mandevilla is native to Brazil, however the Aloha hybrid series bears little resemblance to the wild species due to ongoing breeding.

Position: Aloha White enjoys free-draining, organically rich soil and a full sun position. Use compost to enrich the soil. If planting into a pot (around 30cm diameter), use a quality potting mix that bears the Australian Standards mark.

Habit: A climbing plant that looks best when trained onto a vertical structure.

Nutrition: Use a general purpose, controlled release fertiliser in spring and again in summer which can be supplemented by an occasional liquid feed.

Use: Will climb onto various supporting structures such as pergolas, fences, arbors or lattice work. Ideal for creating a tropical atmosphere in your garden or patio area. Multiple plantings should be spaced at intervals of around 60-90cm depending on speed of cover required.

Care: Water in well when first planted and keep the soil moist, especially in summer. Will tolerate short periods of dryness. A light trim after flowering will maintain plant shape, promote compact new growth and enhance flowering performance.
