Rosemary officinalis 'Edible Rosemary' 200mm Pot

Rosemary officinalis is a hardy, aromatic evergreen herb with fragrant, needle-like foliage and delicate blue flowers, perfect for culinary use, herb gardens and Mediterranean-style landscapes.

Edible Rosemary is one of the most popular and versatile culinary herbs, prized for its intensely aromatic leaves and exceptional garden performance. The narrow, deep green foliage releases a distinctive savoury fragrance when brushed or crushed, making it a favourite ingredient for seasoning roast lamb, chicken, potatoes, vegetables and Mediterranean dishes. During winter and spring, small blue to lavender flowers appear among the foliage, attracting bees and other beneficial pollinators.

Thriving in sunny, well-drained positions, Rosemary is an excellent choice for kitchen gardens, low hedging, decorative containers and waterwise landscapes. Its naturally bushy growth habit, drought tolerance and year-round harvest make it an essential addition to Australian home gardens.

Plant Care

Plant in a full sun position in well-drained soil. Rosemary thrives in sandy, gravelly or moderately fertile soils and prefers good drainage, particularly during wet winter conditions. Water regularly during establishment, then reduce watering once plants are established, allowing the soil to dry between applications. Avoid overwatering and waterlogged soil, which can cause root rot. Lightly trim after flowering or regular harvesting to encourage bushy, compact growth, avoiding heavy pruning into old, leafless wood. Apply a light application of slow-release fertiliser in spring if required. Harvest fresh sprigs throughout the year as needed for cooking.

Rosemary officinalis Edible Rosemary is an essential garden herb, combining delicious aromatic foliage, attractive flowers and exceptional drought tolerance to provide year-round culinary enjoyment and lasting beauty in Australian gardens.
