Persimmon Fuyu is one of the most popular persimmon varieties, prized for its crunchy texture, sweet flavour and excellent keeping qualities. The bright orange fruit develops during autumn and can remain on the tree for many weeks after ripening, creating a spectacular display when the brilliant autumn foliage begins to fall. Unlike astringent varieties, Fuyu can be eaten while firm, making it a favourite for fresh eating.

Plant Care:
Plant in a sunny position with well drained fertile soil. Fruit develops during October and November and is ready to harvest in May. Trees benefit from additional watering during summer, particularly in drier climates. Apply a generous layer of sugar cane mulch to help retain soil moisture and protect roots from heat. Feed in early spring with a quality fruit tree fertiliser to encourage strong new growth and heavy fruit set. As fruit is produced on new growth, regular pruning can be used to maintain a more manageable tree size while encouraging productivity.
